TRAVELS IN England: ITINERAR

March 12: 
Meet at Logan at Delta terminal at 4:45 p.m.  Fly Delta 230 leaving 7:35 p.m. arriving Amsterdam 7:40 a.m.

March 13:
Depart Amsterdam on KL 1081 at 9:50 a.m. arriving Manchester 10:10 a.m. Drive to Lake Country. Visit Dove Cottage at 1:00 p.m. en route to York. You may want to have a short visit in Grasmere as it is a very cute village. (Hotel: Ibis Hotel, 77 The Mount, York  +441904 658301)   Dinner in hotel (roast lamb).

March 14:
Full day guided tour of Yorkshire moors and York with Jenny Denton, local guide. Visit Bronte Heritage Center in Hayworth at 11:30 a.m.

March 15:
Departure for Stratford Upon Avon, at 9:00 a.m. Visit Shakespeare birthplace. Upon arrival in Stratford, the visit to the Birthplace is self explicatory. In the evening you can walk past the Croft and the Old school where Shakespeare studied. The hotel is within walking distances of these sites. Dinner in hotel. March 16:
Drive to Anne Hathaway’s house. Take time to explore the sites in Stratford.   All sites are within walking distance of the hotel.  The Holy Trinity Church is located on the river and Shakespeare is buried there. Then there is The Croft, a house where he lived with his family and the school nearby where he studied. Departure for Bath via Cotswolds region. The drive through the Cotswolds to Bath is lovely. Make some stops en route for sightseeing, a walk or picture taking. Recommended: lunch in Cotswolds. March 17:
Depart from the hotel at 9:00 a.m. to be at the center of Bath around 9:30 a.m. for a visit to the Roman Bath. You will have time to enjoy the center of Bath prior to afternoon which is concentrated on Jane Austen and her time in Bath. Afternoon visit to Jane Austen Center, 40 Gay St., Bath. Meet local guide for Jane Austen walking tour with an Austen specialist at 1 p.m.  The Jane Austen visitors center is close to the Roman Bath. For any questions call Holly at the center at 01225 443000 ext 207.  Special high tea after walking tour at the visitors’ center. The Minster is right near the Roman Bath.  You will have a guided walking tour of Jane Austen’s Bath after having visited the Jane Austen center. Dinner in Bath at 7 p.m. at Loch Fyne Restaurant, 24 Milsom Street, Bath. (Hotel:Old Mill Hotel, Batheaston)

March 18:
Departure at 8:30 a.m. for 9:00 a.m. for a visit to Alton at 11 a.m. with short audiovisual guide. Departure around 8:30 or 9:00 am. Drive via Stonehenge, just drive past the sites, to Chawton where you are expected at 11 a.m..  Proceed to Winchester where you will meet your local guide: Judy Ann Simmons in front of the Winchester Cathedral at 2 p.m. Visit the Cathedral and Great Hall, which is famous for the Knights of the Round Table. You will have a two and half hour walking tour and arrange with the driver to meet you near the Great Hall where the tour will end. Continue to London for overnight stay. March 19:
Meet the bus at the hotel at 8:30 a.m.  Morning tour of London and afternoon visit to the Globe at 2 p.m. AM Tower of London, depending on when the changing of guard is. 9:00 a.m. meet Eileen Allen.

Enjoy an orientation tour. Eileen will decide what the program is for the day. You will visit either Westminster Abbey or the Tower of London. It depends on which the day the ceremony of the Changing of the Guard takes place. 2:00 p.m. Visit the Globe Theater. Remainder of day at leisure. Dinner outside of hotel.  Stay again at Hotel Ibis, Euston.

 March 20:
Eileen Allen will be with us during the day for sightseeing plan and touring. No bus. Group tube pass. See Westminster Abbey with Eileen. Dinner outside the hotel.  (Hotel: Ibis Euston)

 March 21:
Transfer to London Airport at 7:30 a.m. Delta flight 623 departing 10:30 a.m and arriving Boston 2:35 p.m .
